Maurie Dobbin is Founder and Managing Director of TeleResources Engineering, providing hi-tech companies with the tools to test and operate their networks, and he’s gearing up for a tsunami of change.
“If you think you’ve seen a lot change over the last ten years, the next five years will be even greater” is the current catch-cry for Maurie Dobbin and his business.
He’s run TeleRes for over thirty years, but is more excited about the next five years than he’s ever been in his professional career. As he comments, “I stay abreast with what’s happening in the mobile marketplace by attending conferences all over the world. I listen to what others are talking about and then think how I can apply it.
“I’m thinking, ‘what would be the business that’s going to emerge in the next five years?’ and while I know the last ten years have been exciting, the changes over the next five will be dramatic.”
He’s like a kid in a candy store, salivating over the future of his industry. “The emergence of 5G is only part of it. The Internet of Everything or the Internet of Things, (IoT), depending on your point of view, is the real change.
“Imagine a world where everything is connected to everything else, and the primary mechanism for doing that is, in fact, wireless and mobile.”
If the extent of your technology knowledge is how to take a selfie and post it on social media, it’s hard to imagine the future Maurie sees, but his excitement is infectious.
